Polyurethane Spray Foam

We use two types of foam at Steven’s Insulation Services the first is a polyurethane foam with a medium density of 2 Pounds per cubic foot (you may have heard this called 2-pound foam).  Installed correctly this product never shrinks nor shifts and can get into a little spot in your home with a R-Value of 6 per inch of foam. This type of Polyurethane foam does not require a vapor barrier to be placed over top of it and can be drywalled over top. Polyurethane foam is a highly rates product, and we recommend using it in conjunction with BIBS.

The second type of foam we use is a polyurethane foam called Half Pound Foam, which is a light density with a ½ pound density per cubic foot. This open cell polyurethane foam uses water as a blowing agent and is soft to the touch unlike 2-pound foam and does require a vapour barrier to cover it before applying drywall.

Foam can be applied in both exterior walls including garages, vaulted ceilings and attics.
